동국대학교(총장 보광)가 발행하는 국내 유일의 영문 불교학 전문 학술지 <International Journal of Buddhist Thought & Culture>(이하 IJBTC) 28권 2호가 발간됐다.

이번 호 특집은 ‘디지털 인문학과 불교(Digital Humanities and Buddhism)’로 꾸며졌다. 디지털 기술을 활용해 불교를 어떻게 시각화할 것인지 모색한 논문 4편이 수록됐다. <IJBTC> 관계자는 “이번 특집은 디지털 기술을 통해 불교에 쉽게 접근할 수 있도록 하는 연구의 다양성과 중요성을 확인하는 계기가 될 것”이라고 말했다.

일반 논문으로는 생(生), 노(老), 사(死)를 보는 초기불교의 관점, 문수보살 도상의 변천과 의례의 정체성, 《무량청정평등각경(無量淸淨平等覺經)》 24서원의 비판적 역주, 키옌테 노르부 영화의 문화사적 의미를 탐구한 논문 등이 수록됐다.

<IJBTC>(공동편집장 김종욱·리차드 맥브라이드)는 연 2회 발간되고 있으며, 인도, 미국, 태국, 대만, 캐나다, 노르웨이, 영국, 덴마크, 몽골 등 9개국의 해외 학자가 편집위원으로 참가하고 있다.
